To find out what system software you can run, you’ll first need to determine which Mac you have.Ĭlick the Apple menu and choose “About this Mac…”. In the other direction, you can never downgrade past the original OS for your model. There is no precise pattern, but usually, your computer will get OS upgrades for about 7 to 8 years, and then you’ll receive security patches for another two years. Since 2013, Apple releases system software upgrades every fall, and unfortunately from time to time, some older Mac models don’t make the cut. I will try to update this document every year when the new system software is announced.īelow you will find tables of every model of Intel and Apple Processor Mac ever released, a list of all OSes they are capable of running, and a table of all OSes with useful details. But I wanted to make a reference document both for myself and for anyone else who might need it. Normally I have handy tips and tricks for the average user. This blog entry is a little different from my usual. Update 28-June 2022: Added information about macOS Ventura and recent computer models. Update 30-June-2021: Added information about macOS Monterey and recent computer models. The kind of business that will make them millions more in profit.Update 12-July-2020: Added information about macOS Big Sur and recent computer models. You should then consider making your music on a cheeseburger in future. What kind of business are you trying to pull off here exactly apple?!?! NOW - now i feel i am, in a way, FORCED to consider the new retina 15" mbp that might not be upgradable in the future?!?!?!?!! it has been an incredible machine for me, i put a lot of money into my music career and this to me is a huge investment which has paid off year after year. feels very disrespectful somehow, i'm a loyal mbp 17" user, i'm a musician and i chose this line of pro to be my work horse. no explanation, no accountability just off of the store site. Yes i read all the 'rumors' and 'predictions' about the 17" mbp while i was still saving up to get the base line latest gen of 2011 model to replace my now sluggish 2007/2008 model for my home recording studio, and POOF and SLAP on the face. I asked politely anyways, what the heck right? i asked politely if i could still order a two cheeseburger meal for 3.99 and they replied with no hesitation or question, and with a smile - "of course you can miss, what drink would you like with that?" i always say sprite and oh please no salt on my fries THANKS! the order went through their intercom into the back, no two breaths after she confirmed "will that be all?". I found myself in a mcdonalds a couple of months ago and not seeing the meal deal on the board and making an intelligent guess that oh they don't have that meal option anymore don't even bother. Take this following example into consideration:Įven an innocent scenario at a local mcdonalds here which i used to frequent a bunch through my secondary school years to order my favorite meal no.3 - a two cheeseburger meal for 3.99, which officially discontinued or taken off their meal deals 12 years ago(?) but then we get slapped in the face with no mention and no explanation nor details on the store website, is absolutely abysmal business practice period! The blatant 'no mention' at all about the mbp 17" discontinuing, or being taken off the store sight - no mention at all anywhere on the store sight, just not listing it all of a sudden, making true to the 'rumors'īut the 'rumors' were just taken by the public in the first place as 'predictions' by wobbly sources(?) which no real serious consumer would really take with any grain of salt. When in turn, really are consumer consensus simply just a tool of marketing at the end of the day to, what, get a poll of what consumers might actually buy or what they 'wish' for, so that apple might consider in their next keynote to present as a foreseeable or possible development? I feel the events yesterday and every day leading up to yesterday was simply apple just resorting to rumors as a vague source in which to dispel certain 'information' or 'new' development, or extermination of certain services or products, but in an extremely vague way - giving too much room for interpretation by the general public. Right now i feel that APPLE has absolutely NO business / market / client transparency - WHAT'S Up APPLE?! Someone please correct me if i am wrong, but this site is just for entertainment value right? seriously do any posts here really affect market polls for apple to consider for a second what they improve or discontinue - really?!
